Recently at the “World’s Best Wine Lists Awards 2019” ceremony Air France was awarded the “Best Airline Wine List in the World” for the second year running. This is one of the most prestigious distinctions and is awarded by the British magazine “The World of Fine Wine”.
The jury included wine experts, critics and sommeliers, awarded Air France for the diversity and outstanding quality of the wine selection in all of the different travel cabins. The award is also a mark of recognition of the company’s constant care and effort invested to offer the best French wines while in the air.
This is not the only award Air France has received for their wine list, earlier this year they were also awarded “Business Traveller’s Cellars in the Sky Award” showcasing once again the exceptional quality of the wines and Champagnes served on board.
Every two months the airline changes the wines and Champagnes on offer to allow their customers a chance to sample a variety of Frend wines while onboard. All wines are selected by sommelier Paolo Basso and French wine guides Thierry Desseauve and Michel Bettan.
Every year Air France serves 800,000 bottles of wine and 750,000 bottles of Champagne. All wines and spirits are chosen for their ability to adapt to the particular environment of air travel, for example, the dry air and cabin pressure can modify how tastes are perceived.
