Starting 8 January 2025, Australian and New Zealand passport holders will need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter or transit through the United Kingdom. At Y Premium, we want to ensure our valued clients are informed and well-prepared for this new requirement.
Key Details About the UK ETA:
Who Needs It: Australian and New Zealand passport holders travelling to the UK for up to 6 months for tourism, visiting friends or family, business, short-term study, or transiting (even without passing through UK border control).
When to Apply: Applications are NOW open (from 27 November 2024).
Cost & Processing Time: The ETA costs £10 and is usually processed within 3 business days. However, delays are possible so please ensure you allow plenty of time to obtain your ETA prior to travelling.
Validity: The ETA is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. You are allowed to use the same ETA on multiple trips during this 2-year period.
Why It’s Essential:
From 8 January 2025, ETAs will be mandatory for Australians and New Zealanders entering or transiting through the UK. Without one, you may be denied entry.
Who Does NOT Need an ETA?
